National Geopark Revalidation!

Today, after the 38th Japan Geopark Committee Meeting, the Hakusan Tedorigawa Geopark has once again been revalidated! As a result of this revalidation, we will continue to work hard as members of the Japan Geopark Network for the next four years.

Since becoming a National Geopark in 2011, we have been working on promoting tourism and education, through our ‘Journey of Water’ and ‘Journey of Rock’ theme, with the aim of protecting geological heritage. In October this year, our re-evaluation field examination was held, where we were able to show off the Hakusan Tedorigawa Geopark with the help of many locals and affiliated organizations. It is thanks to everyone’s help that we are here today!

Because the people who help out with our Geopark activities also live and work within the Geopark, the Geopark program allows us to be the leaders of our own story with Earth’s heritage. From now we will continue to promote the human aspect of our Geopark, with aims of nurturing a region where locals play the leading roles. Furthermore, as members of the Japanese Geoparks Network, we will continue to participate in network activities, so that Japan can expand activities that contribute to the global scene.

We look forward to your continued support in our future activities.
