Shiramine is an area where both the Hakusan Tedorigawa UNESCO Global Geopark and Mount Hakusan Biosphere Reserve overlap. Located in the south of Hakusan City, it is the closest village to the sacred Mt. Hakusan. The area is full of a number of Geopark sites, including the Shiramine Important Preservation District for Groups of Historic Buildings which can currently be seen with beautiful snowy scenery, and the Kuwajima Fossil Bluff, Hakusan Folk Museum, etc., which can be enjoyed during the warmer seasons.

Located about 1.5 hours from Kanazawa City, many people believe this remote village can only be accessed by car. However, a regular bus is available daily from Kanazawa Station, making it possible for tourists to visit even without a car!
