As a result of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Council held on December 7, 2022, the council has decided to forward the Hakusan Tedorigawa aspiring UNESCO Global Geopark nomination to the Executive Board of UNESCO for endorsement as a new UNESCO Global Geopark.

Following the nomination results of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Council, the formal decision for whether or not to designate the Hakusan Tedorigawa aspiring UNESCO Global Geopark as a UNESCO Global Geopark will be decided at the 216th session of the Executive Board of UNESCO, which will be held between May 10th and 24th, 2023.


*UNESCO Global Geoparks Council: A council composed of geologists and other specialists related to geoparks, who conduct substantial discussions about issues such as the designations of UNESCO Global Geoparks.
