10th Year Anniversary Symposium and New Guide Book!
The Hakusan Tedorigawa Geopark was designated as a Japanese Geopark on September 5, 2011. With the COVID-19 pandemic ongoing, celebrations were unable to be held. However on February 13th 2022, we were finally able to hold our long-overdue celebrations in the form of a 10th Anniversary Symposium.
Dr. Matsubara from Hyogo University joined us online, and started the symposium by presenting about UNESCO Global Geoparks, and the use of fossils in geopark activities. He gave great advice for the future of the Hakusan Tedorigawa Geopark, and helped us become a little bit readier in our journey to becoming a UNESCO Global Geopark.
Following this, in the theme of fossils, Fossil Researcher Mr. Otsuka gave a fantastic presentation on the world-class fossils discovered in Hakusan City.
Then Professor Aoki from Kanazawa University coordinated a lively panel discussion discussing how the next 10 years may look for the Hakusan Tedorigawa Geopark.
The symposium was streamed live on YouTube, and you can find the recording here: youtu.be/xFZ2iaEtZ6o (Japanese only).
To further celebrate our 10th anniversary, we released our first guidebook available with both Japanese and English: The Complete Guidebook to the Hakusan Tedorigawa Geopark. This is available to purchase at the Hakusan Tedorigawa Geopark Promotion Council Office, and from major book stores throughout Hakusan City and Kanazawa City.
We look forward to your continued support over the next 10 years.
