Open only a limited time each year due to high snowfall, the Hakusan Shirakawa-go White Road is a tolled road that connects Hakusan City in Ishikawa Prefecture, to Shirakawago in Gifu Prefecture. The road, which opened in 1977, offers many locations to hike and see the beautiful nature of the Hakusan National Park, such as the several waterfalls found along the route. Along the road there are many view spots of Mt. Hakusan, and the deep valley of the surrounding mountains.
The opening times depend on the season’s snowfall and the condition of the road. For current information on the state of the road, check their website.
