International University Collaboration Symposium
From March 24 to 27, 2025, the Hakusan Tedorigawa Geopark Promotion Council attended and supported the running of the International University Collaboration Symposium, hosted by Kanazawa University.
About 20 people including staff from universities studying geoparks and biosphere reserves (BR), geopark and BR staff, and UNESCO representatives from Japan, France, Germany, Finland, India, Turkey and the Philippines attended.
Over about three days, the participants learnt about many of the features of the area, such as the Hakusan Tedorigawa Geopark and Mount Hakusan Biosphere Reserve, the Kuwajima Fossil Bluff and the cleaning of its fossils, and the traditional culture and regional revitalization efforts being undertaken in Shiramine. Through this symposium, Kanazawa University hopes to work better with international universities in order to promote the research and activities being undertaken in geoparks and biosphere reserves.
