Three Sacred Mountains Summit @ Shirayama Hime Shrine

Today the Three Sacred Mountains Summit was held, and we gave an introduction of the Hakusan Tedorigawa Geopark at the Shirayama Hime Shrine.

The Three Sacred Mountains of Japan are Mt. Hakusan in Ishikawa Prefecture, Mt. Tateyama in Toyama Prefecture, and Mt. Fuji in Shizuoka Prefecture.

In order to utilize the value of these mountains' history and culture, and promote regional promotion and exchange, the three prefectural governors of Toyama Prefecture, Ishikawa Prefecture, and Shizuoka Prefecture formed the "Three Sacred Mountain Partnership Agreement" and are continuing various partner activities.

As part of this agreement, the prefectural governors from all three prefectures visited Ishikawa Prefecture.

After visiting the Kibagata Park in Komatsu City, they came to the Shirayama Hime Shrine in Hakusan City, where we gave them an introduction on the Hakusan Tedorigawa UNESCO Global Geopark. We talked about the geopark program, about our theme the "Journey of Water and Stone", and while they ate tochimochi (horse chestnut rice cakes), we introduced the geological and cultural background of the sweets.

We're hoping to see more activities about the Three Sacred Mountains into the future!
