This tree is a National Natural Monument and selected as one of the 100 best old trees of historical interest in Japan. It is said that this is the biggest chestnut in Japan at 13 meters around, 25 meters in height and approximately 1,300 years old.

• Car:
Space for parking is available beside the tree, however the road can be narrow and rough in places, especially after heavy rain. If you are not comfortable driving the rough road, you can park at the beginning of the road, and walk about 20 minutes (3.4km).
Access is not recommended in winter when snowfall is high.
